Juanice Joy Van Huss, 91 years young, of Greenville, died Monday, July 13, 2020 at her home. Private graveside services will be held. Visitation will be Friday, July 17, 2020, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mrs. Van Huss was born in Lone Oak, Texas on May 2, 1929. She was the daughter of Coleman Wallace and Ura Roberson. She married James E. Van Huss on June 30, 1950 in Texarkana, Arkansas.
Juanice had a love for horses and at the age of 19, she was Runner-up Rodeo Queen of Hunt County Rodeo. Even though she was a homemaker most of her life, she kept a busy schedule with her various clubs and committees. She volunteered 5 days a week for the past 30 years at the Hunt County Committee on Aging. Through volunteering, she was a Finalist several years and 2005-2006 United Way of Hunt County Volunteer of the Year. She loved her seniors she cared for. Juanice was an avid power walker for 30 years and in 1999 she was the winner of the Senior Award 5K Miles for Meals run/walk. She also walked in the Susan Komen, Race for the Cure for many years. In 2012, she received the Unsung Hero of Hunt County, for making Hunt County a better place to live. She had a servants heart and loved helping people, visiting the sick and cheering people up. She was a big Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers fan and enjoyed playing 42 with her friends. Juanice was dependable and a loyal friend, a wonderful wife, mom, sister, grandmother, aunt; and will be deeply missed!
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Van Huss; daughters, Joy Van Huss and Geraldine (Geri) King; brothers, Wayne Wallace and Jack Wallace; and grandchildren, Cody King, Jimmy D. “Scooter” Van Huss, Dusty King; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Lois Crouch and brother, Hilton Wallace.
Memorials may be made to the Creekside Church of Christ, where she was a member, 6115 Jack Finney Blvd., Greenville, Texas 75402.
