Katie Jo Hurse, 94, of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 in Greenville. A graveside service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rev. Bob Layman officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until service time at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hurse was born on July 3, 1925 in Quinlan, Texas to John Willie “Duff” Vance and Mary Ellen “Bunt” Davis. She worked for Shirey’s and was a caregiver to many people. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Gary L. Hurse and wife, Virginia of Decatur and Jeff L. Hurse and wife, Judy of Wylie; daughter, Myra K. Wrenn and husband, Tommy of Greenville; brother, Charles Vance of Greenville; sister, Eva Lea Carter of Quinlan; grandchildren, Gary Hurse II and wife, Joy, John Hurse and wife, Meghan, Sarah Garza and husband, Alex, Jason Wrenn and Ben Wrenn; nine great-grandchildren; nephews, Ronnie Hardeman, Chip Vance, James Carter and Steve Reynolds; nieces, Missy Spears and Marilyn Foley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruby Faye Reynolds; niece, Susan Reynolds; brothers-in-law, Earl Carter and Joe Reynolds; sister-in-law, Eva Johnson; and former husband, Charles Leon Hurse.
Pallbearers will be Chip Vance, James Carter, Gary Hurse II, John Hurse, Jason Wrenn, and Ben Wrenn.
