Kay Bullard, 72, of Lone Oak, Texas, went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2024, at Medical City Plano with her children at her bedside. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Darty officiating. A military graveside with honors will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday, December 9, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Kay was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Genkichi and Sadako Kaneshiro Akamine. Kay served her country in the United States Navy, where she met Tony Ray Bullard, whom she married on April 14, 1972, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She worked in the military Hospital Corps School before being Honorably Discharged. Later, she worked for the City of Greenville and retired after more than 20 years.
Kay was a long-time member of County Line Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer for two decades and often volunteered in the nursery. She cherished her church family and loved taking trips with her Ladies’ Group.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Michele Craven and husband Josh; son, Chris Bullard and wife Stephanie; brother, Clyde Akamine and wife Rhonda; sisters, May Akamine and husband Randy Pong, and Jeani Porter and husband Charli; grandchildren, Ryan Dougan, Will Craven and wife Grace, and Lauren Bullard, and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
