David Ervin Stepp, 70, of Farmersville, died Thursday, April 23, 2020 at his home in Farmersville, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26th from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home located at 5100 Interstate Hwy 30 East (at US-69), Greenville, Texas 75402. A private, family burial will be held at DFW National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211. There will be a full military service, to be announced, at a later date at DFW National Cemetery.

Lt. Colonel David Stepp was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on February 5, 1950. He was the son of A.F. Stepp & Nancy Evelyn Stepp. He married Carol Ann Camp on September 23, 1989 in Arlington, Texas.

David is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Stepp; mother, Nancy Evelyn Stepp; daughter, Terri Lynn Neal; son, David Matthew Stepp & wife Jennifer Stepp; son, Timothy Michael Stepp & wife Apryl Stepp; stepson, Christopher James Van Wart & wife Gina Kristen Van Wart;  granddaughter, Kara Neal; grandson, Isaak Flores; step-grandson, Austin James Van Wart; brother, Keith Walter Stepp & wife Michaelene Stepp; sister, Ramona Elizabeth Gandy; niece, Barbara Stepp; nephew, Callum Stepp; nephew, William Gandy; and niece, Jennifer Ann Holtz & husband Peter Holtz.

David joined the United States Marine Corps on his 18th birthday, February 5, 1968. He went to Vietnam at the age of 18 where he was a wounded survivor, receiving the Purple Heart. He was part of the 3rd Recon unit, and he received the following accommodations: Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (7th Award), Army Achievement Medal (6th Award), Armed Forces Service Medal & Award for Operations Relating Former Rep Yugoslavia, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, & Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (4th Award). He retired, as a Lt. Colonel, from the Army Reserves September 1999, 31 ½ years later. David was a loved & well-respected man who proudly loved and served his country. He thoroughly enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends in the community & swapping ol’ war stories.

David is preceded in death by his dad, A.F. Stepp.
