Monnie Blackwell, 72, of Caddo Mills, passed away on December 27, 2021 at her residence. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Butch Bruton officiating. Burial will follow at Caddo Mills I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Caddo Mills. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Monnie was born April 21, 1949 in Greenville, Texas to Mike Carnegie and Alice Foster. She married Lanny Blackwell on December 5, 1975 in West Tawakoni, Texas. Monnie worked at Henson-Kickernick in Greenville from the mid 70’s to the mid 90’s. Since retiring she was a homemaker and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Monnie had a heart of gold and graciously provided care over the years for numerous children and adults as well as many fur babies. She assisted her husband Lanny Blackwell by serving as accountant for Blackwell Plumbing since 1980. Monnie served on the board of directors for Liberty Cemetery Association in Greenville throughout her adult life. Monnie also faithfully served for the last ten years on the Caddo Mills Housing Authority Board of Commissioners where she never missed a meeting.
She is survived by her husband, Lanny Blackwell; son, Jon Ayers; daughters, Sheri Dalton, Lisa Hickman; brothers, Tommy Foster, Johnny Foster; grandchildren, Michael Barns, Perry Jones, Kaland Dalton, Kalea Dalton, Levi, Mikayla, Elijah, Caleb, Aliyah, Emmery Hickman; great-grandchildren, Mayleigh Jones, Kirby Dalton and Adalynn Kirby.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Clarry Foster and Danny Foster.
