Midland, Texas- Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian spoke at the Fletcher Warren Center Thursday night. He said, “You remember when Iran used drones to destroy a Saudi Arabian refinery and when the president ordered a strike to take out the Butcher of Tehran, don’t you?
What happened to the price of gasoline that you fill your tank with every week? That is right, nothing! If anything, the price may have dropped a few cents per gallon.” He went on to say that if Texas were an independent nation it would be the fourth-largest oil producer in the world”.
The U.S. Department of the Interior announced the Wolf Camp Shale and overlying Bone Spring Formation in the Delaware Basin portion of Texas and New Mexico’s Permian Basin province contain an estimated mean of 46.3 billion barrels of oil, 281 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 20 billion barrels of natural gas liquids in late 2018. Commissioner Christian went on to say, “Today another field was discovered that has triple the number of previous estimates for oil and gas”.
Christian said, “The problem with wind generators is that they are expensive, the life expectancy is but 15-years before major components must be replaced, and they kill many migratory birds…some of which are on the list of endangered species. Wind power cannot compete with natural gas to produce electricity nor can electric automobiles cover the vast distances in Texas without recharging stops of an hour or more”.
