It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rachel Martinez (Herrera), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on January 11, 2025, at the age of 56. Rachel was born on May 7, 1968, in Houston, Texas to Juan Herrera and Benita Garcia. She was a cherished member of the Quinlan, Texas community, where she and her family were active members of Transformation Church.
Rachel found joy in the simple things in life. She loved playing bingo, spent countless hours enjoying Happy Color on her phone, and brought warmth and joy to all around her. However, it was her family who brought her the greatest happiness. Rachel adored her loving husband of 15 years, Francisco Martinez, and cherished their time together. She was a proud and devoted mother to her sons Jonathan (and wife Juana), Lucas, and Kevin, and her heart was filled with joy by her grandson, Jacob Martinez, whom she adored deeply.
Rachel was a beloved sister to Diana Garza (and husband Pedro), Graciela Sanchez (and husband Jose), and Bernardo Garza (and wife Laurie). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, as well as a host of dear friends who will miss her radiant spirit and kind heart.
Rachel is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Juan Herrera; and a sister, Ruthann Herrera.
Rachel’s presence in our lives was a blessing, and she will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering love for her family, and her ever-present smile. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
There will be a visitation from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville, Texas. A funeral service to celebrate Rachel’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville, Texas.
