U.S. Veteran

Riley William “R.W.” Spraggins, 98, of Greenville died May 5th, 2021. He was born September 28th 1923 to W.H. and Bernice Spraggins in Pear Valley, Texas.

R.W. proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during the World War II Era.

Among many great things, R.W. will be remembered for being a very active, strong, and adventurous man. First most, he was a proud family man who loved and honored his family.  He was very fond of the fact that upon meeting the love of his life, Irma Kathleen Moore, he immediately called her “Kay,” and the name stuck until her passing in May 2020. They had enjoyed 76 years and nine and a half months married life together.  They spent a great deal of time traveling and had succeeded in visiting all 50 states in the U.S.  They had also been to multiple Provinces of  Canada. 

R.W. leaves lasting and wonderful memories for his family and many friends to cherish.

Survivors include son, Jay Spraggins and his wife, Becky; daughter-in-law, Lynn Spraggins; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren;  brother, Rex Spraggins and his wife Jan; sister, Jane Wilson and her husband Tug; numerous nieces and nephews; dear friend and care giver, Shelly; along with a host of loving relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kay Spraggins, a son, Riley Spraggins; brother, Marion Spraggins; sister, Ann Murray.

There will be an inurnment at a later date at the DFW National Cemetery.
