Sandra Cartwright, 85, of Greenville passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2023 in Rockwall, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Yost officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 pm until service time. The interment will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Sandra was a teacher for many years in Greenville, having taught, primarily 2nd grade at Bowie Elementary and music at Travis. She also taught piano and Kindermusik privately. She was an accomplished pianist and played many performances and events with a local jazz band, Doc and the Gang.
Sandra was born in Henderson, Texas on August 29, 1938 to parents Frances Radford and Joseph Johnston Sale. Upon graduation from Kilgore High School, she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at East Texas State University and pursued her career in education.
She married Bob Cartwright on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1960 in Kilgore, Texas and they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Sandra is survived by her husband, daughters Donna Hollon and husband Bret and Sharon Cartwright-Steele, grandchildren Lauren Hollon-Sturdy and husband Michael, Dane Hollon, Shane Hollon, Victoria Steele-Stozhka and husband Slavik, and Caroline Steele, two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Cash Sturdy, and her beloved dog, Max.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Shane Hollon, Dane Hollon, Dr. Bob Deuell, Slavik Stozhka, Stanislav Stozhka, and Bret Hollon.
