Sarina Gale Cheak, age 61, of Caddo Mills, passed away on September 26, 2024. She was born on December 15, 1962, in Greenville, TX, to Jessie and Jo Waldrop.

Sarina was a passionate and dedicated journalist before starting her family, working for the  *Times Herald/The White Wright Son*, the newspaper owned by her parents. She touched many lives through her work and community involvement.

Sarina was a wonderful mother. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she was often seen as a second mother by her children’s friends. Sarina was a proud and loving grandmother, and her famous, award-winning salsa became a hallmark of family gatherings. She had a deep love for music, particularly live performances and country tunes, which brought her great joy throughout her life.

Sarina is survived by her husband of 40 years, Joe Cheak; her daughter, Courtney Johnson, and husband John; her son, William Cheak; her siblings, Paul Waldrop and wife Sarah, Joe Waldrop and wife Cathy, Bobby Waldrop and wife Tiffany, and Kelly Owens and husband Jesse; her cherished grandchildren, Carter Cheak and Aubree Johnson; as well as, beloved numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Jo Waldrop.

A memorial “get together” will be held at a later date to honor Sarina’s life and the impact she had on all who knew her.
