Willard Allen Gandy, 84, of Greenville, passed away on May 11, 2019 in Greenville. Funeral services will be 1 P.M., Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Park Street Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Hailes and Rev. Michael Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in Simmons Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 P.M. – 8 P.M. on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Willard was born June 22, 1934 in Hearne, Texas to Thomas Alton Gandy and Maebelle Jordon Gandy. He married Betty Jo Wallace on June 26, 1954 in Bremond, Texas. He worked for 38 years for Lone Star Gas Company as manager of the accounting department. He served for 15 years on the Supervising Committee and 36 years on the Board of Directors for Lone Star Federal Credit Union. He was saved at the age of 12 in the Elliott Baptist Church located near Hearne, Texas. He was an ordained Deacon in November of 1965 at South Beckley Baptist in Dallas and was a member of Park Street Baptist since 1968 where he served as a Deacon for 45 years. While at Park Street he has served as Sunday School Teacher, Department Directors, General Sunday School Director, Church Training Director, Brotherhood President and Chairman of Deacons and Ushers and served as chairman of three pastor search committees. He loved fishing, hunting and the outdoors; most importantly, he loved his family and God.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Gandy of Greenville; son, Joseph Gandy of Point; daughter, Cathy Bobbitt and husband, Joe of Royse City, Betty Cooper and husband, Dan of Greenville and Mary Jo Wein and husband, David of Colorado Springs, Colorado; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Vein Bobbitt, Deke Hoffman, George Wein, Richard Wein, Colton Cooper, and McKlane Bobbitt.
