William “Craig” Burton, (70), of Quinlan, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

William, better known as Craig, was born to William and Billie Burton on November 29, 1952, in Dallas, Texas. Craig grew up in Mesquite, Texas and attended North Mesquite High School. Craig loved his family fiercely and lived for family gatherings and cookouts. He was a sports enthusiast and watched all things sports related. Besides bragging about his children and grandchildren, he enjoyed talking about his two favorite teams the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.

Craig is survived by his two children, daughter, Christy Giles, of Quinlan, son, Brian Burton, and his wife Stacy, of Poetry, Texas. His grandchildren, Jace, Morgan, Megan, and Jonathan. His Siblings, Neil Burton and wife Linda, Lisa Estep and husband Dennis.  A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family. Craig was preceded in death by his parents, William and Billie, brothers Michael, and Matthew.

Craig was never at a loss for words and never met a stranger. He affectionately referred to each of his friends and family as “sweetheart”, “sunshine”, “princess”, “baby doll”, or “bub”, “bud-ro”, and “best guy you’ll ever meet”. He had a kind, giving heart and was the type of man who would sacrifice his last dollar if he knew someone was in need. His favorite role in life was that of being a father. He was known to end his conversations with his children with “I love you, kiss my babies for me and tell them Papaw loves them”. He never missed an opportunity to tell his children or grandchildren just how proud he was of them. Throughout his battle with COPD, he never lost his passion for others and his sense of humor and was often cracking jokes at the expense of hospital staff. Craig will be missed by all who knew him.

There will be a celebration of life scheduled at a date yet to be determined. The family will notify loved ones of the date, time, and location.
