James “Jimmy” Glenn Powell, age 50, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on February 4, 2025. Born in Suitland, Maryland on July 28, 1974, to James Howard Powell and Linda Carol (Watkins) Powell, Jimmy lived a life full of laughter, joy, and adventure.
A member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church, Jimmy’s deep faith was evident in the way he lived and interacted with others. He was also an active participant in the Special Olympics, where his enthusiasm and competitive spirit shone through. His zest for life was contagious—he never focused on what he lacked, but on the many adventures he embraced.
Jimmy’s love for life extended to his favorite pastimes. Whether playing a game of “UNO” or enjoying a meal—each meal was an event for him, treated like a banquet. He formed lasting friendships wherever he went, and those who knew him will miss his joyful spirit and infectious smile.
Jimmy is survived by his loving parents, James and Linda Powell; his sisters, Valerie “Denise” Powell-Bauer (Ken) and Andrea “Andie” Lynn Shipley (Russell); and numerous friends and extended family who will forever cherish his memory.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held at Memory Land Memorial Park in Greenville, Texas on Thursday February 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
