Edwin Fort McMeans, 90, passed away peacefully at Greenville Health & Rehab in Greenville, Texas on January 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, with Mr. James Frank Parker, Mr. Jon Beller and Dr. John T. Tate officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends and family.
Ed was born March 10, 1931 in Greenville, Texas to Henry “Pat” Roland and Mildred Virginia Fort McMeans. He was raised in Greenville and graduated from Baylor University. He married Pamela Diane Jones in Cooper, Texas. Ed worked for LINA – Printing Type Setter and salesman for Balfour Class Rings and Taylor Yearbooks. He was a member of Central Christian Church. Ed was very active in the Greenville Daybreak Rotary. After retirement, he spent time fishing, golfing and volunteering as well as coordinating and driving local cancer patients to treatments.
Ed is survived by his wife, Pamela Diane McMeans; daughter, Laura Lynn Parker & husband, James Frank Parker; son, James Durham McMeans & wife, Jeannine; step-son, Jonathan Glen Beller; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; previous wife, Margaret Durham McMeans; son, Dr. Patrick Mason McMeans; and sister, Rita Pat Deteau.
