Dr Michelle Annette (Onley) Tvete, 52, passed away on January 25, 2021, in her hometown of Greenville, Texas. Michelle was born February 9, 1968, in Pasadena, Texas and was the third born of four children to Mr. and Mrs. Glen Onley.
Soon after Michelle’s birth, her family moved to Greenville, the place she called home for most of her life. She cherished her years growing up there and especially the friendships made at Greenville High School, where she graduated Salutatorian of the Class of 1986. She graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University – Commerce (TAMUC) with a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature in 2007; received a master’s degree in English (with a focus on Children’s Literature) from TAMUC in 2009; and earned a doctorate of philosophy in English (with a focus on Film Studies) from TAMUC in 2017. A passionate educator, loved and respected by her students and peers, she taught film, literature, and composition at Texas A&M-Commerce and Collin College. In addition to learning and teaching she loved to read, play games, and, most of all, spend time with family. The wonderful memories she helped to create will be cherished by all who knew her, but most affectionately felt by her adoring family.
Michelle is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel Tvete, and beloved children, Alexandra Pirkle of Fort Worth and Nate Tvete of Greenville. Michelle is also survived by her loving father, Glen Onley of Greenville, sisters Melanie Schnieders and her husband Michael of Foley, Alabama and Kristina Tripp of Greenville, and brother Al Onley and his wife Veronica Decker of Johnson City, Tennessee. She was loved dearly by her nieces and nephews – Jason, Kayli, Matthew, Zak, Emily, Mark, Sascha, Isaac, and Nick – as well as her in-laws, Geir and Kristin Elisabeth Tvete, their daughter, Marte, and grandparents, Oystein and Ragnhild Tvete. Michelle was preceded in death by her mother Phyllis Raye (Warren) Onley.
Michelle Onley Tvete will be interred at the Mount Vernon City Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Texas.
