Elsie Pearl Fridie was born July 21, 1945 to the union of Joe Fridie and Dorothy Fridie Grigsby. She was the eldest of 20. Nine sisters and eleven brothers. Throughout her life, Elsie exemplified unwavering love and compassion. She is known for her strong faith and selflessness, always helping those in need. Her infectious smile brought joy to anyone around her. She was an avid reader and loved spending quality time with her family. Elsie accepted Christ at an early age. She received her formal education while living with her grandmother Essie Oliver in Greenville, TX. Before her health failed her, she was the family’s counselor, biggest cheerleader, and gave the best hugs. She worked and retired from Citizens General Hospital after more than 30 years.
She met and married Jessie Morris. To this union, three children were born. Karen, Jessie, and Timothy. She later met and married Morris Wayne Davis. To this union, one daughter Monisha was born.
Our beloved Elsie answered the master’s call and was called home peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father Joe Fridie, mother Dorothy Grigsby, Grandmother Essie Oliver, grandson Jaren Suber, sisters – Georgeta Newsome and Essie Stanton, brothers – Jimmy Morrow and Ray Andrews.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters Karen (Paul) Suber and Monisha Davis; Sons Jessie and Timothy (Latoya) Morris; Grandchildren Quenton Morris, Kiara Wallace, Timiree Morris, Bryson Morris, Jasmine Ross; great-grandchildren Cameron White, Na’Riah Morris, Khy’rie Wallace, Imani Wallace and Iyree Morris Paetyn Morris, Parris Morris, Quenton Morris Jr., John Massey and Jaycee Massey. Sisters Idell Oliver, Rosetta Grigsby, Carolyn Weatherall, Estella Brown, Sammie Dawson, and Judy Andrews; Brothers Johnnie Andrews, Wallace Andrews, Leroy Andrews, Alfred Andrews, Lester Andrews, and Willie Andrews Jr.; a host of nephews, nieces and other family and friends.
