 James Ray Jones, 66 of Farmersville formerly of McKinney departed this life on May 10, 2023. His Celebration of Life Services will be on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM.  The Homegoing Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 401 W Erwin Ave, McKinney, TX 75069.

***Public Visitation will be held an hour before service***

“SPIKE”

James Ray Jones was born March 13, 1957 to Georgia Ann Hart and James Jenkins in McKinney, Texas. James accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Concord Church and later became a member of the First Baptist Church of McKinney.
Spike graduated from McKinney High School in 1975. He later received his bachelor’s degree from Dallas Baptist University in 1997. Spike trained with the Dallas Mavericks before heading overseas to play in the European League. He later coached at the Recreational Centers in Dallas and McKinney. He enjoyed teaching kids how to play basketball, football, and to swim. He later obtained his CDL and began working for Logisticorp.
In 1994 Spike and Precious “Short Dog” started dating and married in 2003.
James Ray Jones was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, attending sporting events, and watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys!
James “Spike” Jones departed this life on May 10, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; George and Susie Jones, daughter; Shaniqua Evans, brother; Paul Edward Dunlap, and sister; Brenda Sue Jenkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife; Precious Jones, one daughter; Kisha Evans, two sons; Chris Jones and Michael “Boo” Jones, one stepson; Chris Perkins, one stepdaughter; Christie Perkins Hawkins (Chris), one Goddaughter; Bridgette Maxey (Steve), two sisters; Sara Horton (Kelvin), and Christine Redwine (Roger), 23 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and great friends.
