Lee Mathis, 85, of Quinlan passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 in the peace of his home surrounded by his loving family. Lee was born on September 20, 1934 in Farmersville, the son of Clarance Earl Mathis and Ethel Mae (Wallace) Mathis. He married Wanda Marie Gilliam on January 21, 1960 in Rockwall. He was a welder for Vistawall in Terrell. He served his country by serving in the Army.

Lee’s family who are cherishing the memories of his life are his wife, Wanda Mathis; his children, Sonny Mathis and his wife Faye, Janet Kent and her husband Mike, Karen Morgan and her husband Jerrod, and Donna Bambico and her husband Ricky; grandchildren, Amy Cockrum, Amanda Cockrum, Eric Canary, Lacy Reese, Brandon Wyer, Jeff Canary, Teffani York, Josh Wyer, and Kayla Mathis; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Lee is preceded in his death by his parents, Clarance and Ethel Mathis; four brothers, Clarance Mathis, Roy Mathis, Harvey Mathis, and Leslie Mathis; four sisters, Lillie Mathis, Dorothy Cantrell, Dora Mathis, and Ruby Mathis.

Visitation and viewing will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the chapel of Quinlan Funeral Home. His funeral service will be on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Quinlan Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Kines officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Ashworth Cemetery in Kaufman County, with Jeff Canary, Cameron Canary, Austin Irwin, Billy Gilliam, Keith Gilliam, and Jacob Reese serving as pallbearers.
