Tawanna “Grammy” Pumphrey, 55 of Quinlan, TX passed away on January 18, 2020. She was born on October 7, 1964 to Calvin and Helena Pierce in Mesquite, TX. Tawanna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her family was her life. She was an English teacher for many years at Quinlan ISD and involved in an after school program called “ACE”. Tawanna enjoyed her pets, working in her greenhouse, was an avid reader, crafts, enjoyed playing softball competitively and loved to travel to the beach. Spending time with her family and friends, playing card games, dominoes especially “42” and enjoyed good food.  

Tawanna is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Vaughn Pumphrey; children, Justin Pumphrey and his wife Lauren, Chelsea Pumphrey and Kane Patterson, and Brandon Pumphrey; grandchildren Chesney Smith and Brantley Pumphrey; father, Calvin Piearce; sisters, Wanda Wright and her husband Mark and Kim Mester, numerous nieces and nephews, many extended family, along with a host of loving relatives and friends.

Tawanna is preceded in death by her mother, Helena Piearce; brother, Calvin Piearce, Jr., and sister Doris Fitzgerald.

There will be a visitation at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville, TX on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 6-8 PM. Funeral Service will be at Grace Baptist Church in Quinlan, TX on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 1 PM.
