Billie “Bill” Autry Willeford, 83, passed away on December 16, 2020. He was born on April 18, 1937 to James and Lillie Davis Willeford in Greenville, TX. Bill graduated from Greenville High School in 1955 and continued his education at East Texas State University, where he ultimately attained a master’s degree in education in 1964. Bill met the love of his life, Melba, on March 30, 1962 and they were married on June 16, 1962. He went on to become an educator and taught social studies, civics, and economics over a 30-year span in many schools all over Texas. He retired in 1992 from Judson High School in San Antonio, his favorite place to teach. After he retired from teaching, he continued his part-time job at the Lone Star Brewery until it closed, and then went to work at the Alamo as a tour guide. He was also a proud Army veteran that was stationed in Louisville, KY and Fort Polk, LA. Outside of work, Bill was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and San Antonio Spurs fan. He enjoyed going to church, reading, and spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Melba; a daughter, Sherry Symmonds, a son, Brian Willeford, grandchildren, James Symmonds and Danielle Symmonds; siblings Marlin Willeford, Juanita Pitts, and Bobbie McClure; In-laws, Yvonne and Bill Stewart, along with a host of loving relatives and friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Robert Willeford, James N. Willeford, Jr., Jimmy Wayne Willeford, and Barbara Willeford-Miller.

There will be a visitation at Lynch Funeral Service Chapel in Greenville on Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 3-5 PM. A funeral service will also be at Lynch Funeral Service Chapel on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 10 AM. Burial will follow service at IOOF in Quinlan, TX.
