On Thursday, December 22, 2022, James Allen Rice was called home at the age of 64. He left this world unexpectedly, with his son by his side. We have lost a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and leader.

James was born on June 10, 1958, in Greenville Tx, to Marvin and Ila Rice. He graduated from Quinlan High School in 1976. After high school, James and Pam met and later married on April 17, 1981. James was a great role model and leader to many. He was always providing for his family, coached in sports, and spent many years as an operations manager at Texas Book Company. Pam and James made many lifelong friends after joining a local co-ed softball league. James spent many seasons coaching his son’s teams of baseball and basketball. He kept that tradition going with his grandson, as he recently started coaching his TBall teams. On the weekends, you could find him fishing on Lake Tawakoni or somewhere mowing. James took after his father, at an early age, in starting a mowing business. He and Pam would be seen all over town mowing yards and businesses. James was also a lover of classic cars and antique tractors. His latest hobby was tending to his longhorns at 6R Ranch. He was a great man who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

James has reunited with his wife of forty years, Pam Rice. He is also preceded in death by his father, Marvin “Dick” Rice. James is survived by his mother Ila Rice, son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Amber Rice, grandchildren Jackson and Maisyn Rice, sister Denise Webb, niece Tiffany Dulany, and many other nieces and nephews.
