Hal Douglas Wallace Jr, age 73, of Quinlan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 17, 2024. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan.

Hal Douglas Jr. was born on Wednesday, August 30, 1950, in Dallas, Texas to the late Mr. Hal Douglas Wallace Sr. and Georgie Mae Hargrove Wallace. He was 12 years old when it was discovered that he had a genius-level IQ. As a young man, Hal worked hard to help support his family but never missed a day of school during his entire school career. At the age of 7, Hal was in grade school when he fell in love with a little girl named Vicki Lynn Simmons and they married in May 1978. He graduated from Garland High School where he dated his future wife, Ladonna Geraldine Howard. He and Ladonna married on September 28, 2012, in Rockwall, Texas. After graduating high school, Hal went on to earn his law degree in criminal and family law from Southern Methodist University in 1978. Hal loved studying history and received a bachelor’s degree in history in 1973.  He was a member of Point Baptist Church and ran the music system. He enjoyed traveling and taking vacations to Eureka Springs, Aruba, Lake Tahoe, and Estes Park, Colorado with his family. He also enjoyed fishing and gambling. Hal had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke around. He loved watching old westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Taylor Stevenson in June 2022; his dogs, Bubba in 2020, Pooh-Bear in 2011 and his three-legged cat Hobbs in 1996.

He is greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Ladonna Wallace of Quinlan; son, Hal Douglas Wallace III and husbands Jonathan and Charlie of Dallas; daughter, Lindsay Lay and husband Christopher of Quinlan; stepchildren, Cory Compton and wife Bobbi of Wylie; Tracy Smith and husband Wesley of Emory; sisters, Lovie Dokmanovich of North Carolina; Darlene Harris of Denver, Colorado; Flo Newman of Garland; Rhonda Roach and husband Lonnie of Austin; Laney Horn of Rockwall; Holly Horn of Rockwall; Cheyenne Horn of Dallas; and Tammy Buckle and husband Jeff of Newark; grandchildren, Dylan Lay, Hailey Gore, Callie Lay, Heidi Gore, Landrie Lay, Joshua Blanton, Connor Compton, Aaron Stevenson and Joshua Stevenson; great grandchildren, Taytum Gore, Maverick Spencer, Savanna Ferry, Lincoln Stevenson, Averi Stevenson, Jack Stevenson, and Sawyer Stevenson, Marleigh Stevenson, Haizlee Stevenson, Cooper Stevenson and the mother of his beautiful children, Vicki Nix of Rockwall, and his k9 kids, Scooter and Belle.
